  If you want to invest in a high quality hand-knotted rug, you will not only get a piece of traditional craftsmanship steeped in history, but also a rug made of natural materials and with a long life expectancy. Although some industrial rugs made from sheep's wool and other natural materials are available, most have been colored with artificial and chemical dyes. Moreover, they do not reach the knot density and quality of fine oriental rugs. In machine-made rugs, for example, only between 8 and 10 colors can be combined, while for handmade rugs there is no limit.
